A modern home with a twist. A clean slate space on a corner between two busy roads, with a spectacular view of the White Whale itself, meaning the incomparable Comox Glacier. The challenge was how to provide privacy while maintaining the view and space the property provided.
My clients were keen to explore their options and so desired two concepts. One very naturalistic and flowing, and the other more formal and modern. Both complement their modern home in different ways. Bringing colour and wildlife into the garden was an important element to this design. Read the blog post about the installation of the gabion walls, and see more installation images at the bottom of this page.
This design has turned an empty and exposed corner lot into a lush welcoming garden for people and wildlife. The birds responded immediately to having a bubbling water feature to enjoy and the prolific blooms have encouraged many butterflies and bees.
The plantings are a drought tolerant and deer resistant blend of perennials, trees and ferns, with a focus on sustainability and ease of maintenance.
